Today the Astronomical Society of South Australia set up and hosted safe transit-of-Venus viewing equipment at the Festival Centre, Adelaide. The whole experience was an absolute delight – volunteers brimming with knowledge and enthusiasm kept the attending crowd busy with solar viewing glasses and plenty of information as we queued for the telescopes. I saw the shadow of Venus 3 ways – directly through the glasses, and as reflections via a telescope and a pinhole viewer with magnification. Here are a few shots I took on the day.
